Back First Battery Depassivation sequence

First Battery Depassivation sequence

Date: 19 September 2004
Satellite: Cassini-Huygens
Depicts: Current and voltage during battery depassivation
Copyright: ESA

This plot shows the battery current and voltage for the five Lithium batteries on-board the Huygens probe during the first battery depassivation test.

During the test the depassivating layer that develops naturally over time is removed from the batteries by connecting them to a load for a short period of time. Removing the layer is necessary for later usage of the batteries.
