The science instrument on board ESA'­s Characterising Exoplanet Satellite, CHEOPS, was switched on for the first time on 8 January 2020 as part of the in-orbit commissioning phase and commanded to pre-science mode, activating the application software that started heating the telescope tube. This graph shows how the temperature is controlled at different positions in the telescope structure.
