SMART-1 Launch Put Back

SMART-1 Launch Put Back

19 August 2003

Arianespace has announced that Flight 162 has been delayed following a request from one of the payload clients for additional verification tests on its satellite. A new launch date will be announced later.

ESA officials stated that the Ariane-5 launcher and SMART-1 spacecraft  are in good shape and ready for the new launch date.  During the delay SMART-1 will continue to be housed in the clean rooms of the S5 payload checkout facility at Kourou spaceport.

The Ariane 5G launch vehicle is still in the final assembley building awaiting integration of the three-satellite payload.
