Measuring the mineral composition of the Moon with SMART-1's SIR
This figure illustrates the broad range of mineralogical composition and maturity studied with the SIR spectrometer over the Aristarchus region.
The red line shows the area over which the SMART-1 SIR point spectrometer flew, and the yellow graph the corresponding spatial variations in relative reflectance in the infrared continuum at 1.5 micron. The green line shows the variations of band ratio 1/1.5 and 2/1.5 in order to trace pyroxene and olivine variations.
