SOHO shows magnificant solar fireworks

While SOHO was in Coarse Roll Pointing mode during the weekend of 8-10 January, the Extreme ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (EIT) was observing in a mode with higher-than-usual telemetry rate, as the Large Angle Spectrometric
Coronagraph (LASCO) instrument had its doors closed in anticipation of spacecraft manoeuvres on the Monday before returning SOHO to its Normal Mode.
During this time, the Sun showed off some magnificent fireworks.
