No. 13 - Successful Titan-A Flyby
At 03:30 UT, 27 October 2004 Cassini-Huygens spacecraft successfully executed its flyby of Titan at an altitude of around 1200 km.
The flyby, 300 times closer than the previous flyby on 3 July, has allowed the Cassini element of the spacecraft to obtain high resolution images of the surface of the Moon.
The Cassini imaging systems targeted the area surrounding the planned Huygens landing site. The images returned, along with analysis of the atmospheric composition of Titan, will help mission planners fine tune the Huygens mission.
The lastest images displayed late on 27 October show the projected Huygens landing site in great detail.
