Back Power Supply Rack Installation

Power Supply Rack Installation

13 February 2004

A new first in the ROSETTA launch campaign!

Power supply rack installation

Yesterday, 12 February, the power supply rack for the spacecraft has been installed in the bottom of the launch table. This power supply will power the spacecraft until a few minutes before the launch.

As can be seen in the picture on the left, the rack is actually hanging from the ceiling on heavy duty springs which will protect the equipment against the very strong vibrations in the table during the launch sequence.

The spacecraft itself is being prepared for the transport from its present "home" in the S3B building to the BAF, where it will be installed on top of the Ariane5 launcher.
