VIRTIS infrared composite image of Earth

VIRTIS infrared composite image of Earth

Date: 04 March 2005
Satellite: Rosetta
Depicts: Earth in the infrared
Copyright: ESA

Composite image of Earth from three different infrared wavelengths. It is worth noticing that by selecting the three different wavelengths in the continuum and avoiding the water spectral bands, the difference between the illuminated and dark side of the Earth is still apparent.

This image was taken on 5 March 2005 after Rosetta's closest approach to Earth by VIRTIS from a distance of 250 000 kilometres and with a resolution of 62 kilometres per pixel.
