Report for Period 17 January to 13 February 2009The reporting period covers four weeks of active cruise phase characterised by platform and payload check-out activities. Spacecraft and ground segment performance during the reporting period have been nominal.

Mission operations have been conducted with support of the ESA New Norcia (NNO) ground station.

At the end of the reporting period (DoY 044) Rosetta was at 457.55 million km from Earth (3.05 AU) and the one-way signal travel time was 1526 seconds. The distance to the Sun was 332.33 million km (2.22 AU).

Spacecraft

Payload
The instruments were activated as part of the payload check-out 9 activities. The Standard Radiation Environment Monitor (SREM) continues to run in the background.

ALICE
The instrument was activated without problems as part of payload check-out 9 activities.

CONSERT
The instrument was activated without problems as part of payload check-out 9 activities.

COSIMA
The instrument was activated without problems as part of payload check-out 9 activities.

GIADA
The instrument was activated without problems as part of payload check-out 9 activities.

MIDAS
The instrument was activated without problems as part of payload check-out 9 activities.

MIRO
The instrument was activated without problems as part of payload check-out 9 activities.

OSIRIS
The instrument was activated without problems as part of payload check-out 9 activities.

ROSINA
The instrument is OFF.

RPC
The instrument was activated without problems as part of payload check-out 9 activities.

RSI
The instrument was unmuted and connected to the Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TTC) subsystem on DoY 040 for the check-out 9 activities. The procedure, which had some problems during check-out 8, was run successfully without problems.

VIRTIS
The instrument is OFF.

LANDER Philae
The instrument was activated without problems as part of payload check-out 9 activities.

SREM
Since DoY 026/2009 the accumulation settings are configured for active cruise mode.

Future Milestones

The active cruising phase will continue until March when Deep Space Manoeuvre 4 will be conducted in preparation of the third and last Earth swing-by planned for 13 November 2009.

The manoeuvre will be followed by a short tracking campaign with the spacecraft being configured for a near-Sun hibernation phase to last until beginning of September.
