Fractures on a cliff on comet 67P/C-G, close-up
This close-up is part of an image taken with Rosetta's OSIRIS narrow-angle camera of the Ash region, located on the large lobe of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. It shows a fractured scarp and what appears to be a new fracture cross-cutting two older fractures. The new fracture is 100–125 cm-wide and is expected to lead to 'mass-wasting' of the fractured scarp.
An annotated version of this image, with an indication of the physical scale, is available as an inset in this larger context image.
