Comet 67P/C-G on 16 February 2015 - NavCam image D
Rosetta navigation camera (NavCam) image of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, taken on 16 February 2015.
Over a period of about twenty minutes, four NavCam images were taken in sequence as a 2×2 raster – each image showing only part of the comet. This is the fourth image in the sequence, taken at a distance of 227.2 km from the centre of the comet. The image scale is 19.4 m/pixel and the frame measures about 19.8 km across.
A montage of all four images from this sequence is available here and a mosaic of the four images stitched together is available here.
The image has been cleaned to remove the more obvious bad pixels and cosmic ray artefacts, and intensities have been scaled.
More images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko can be found in the '67P - by Rosetta' collection.
