Comet 67P/C-G on 28 March 2015 (19:37 - 19:55 UTC) - NavCam image B
Rosetta navigation camera (NavCam) image taken on 28 March 2015 during a close flyby of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Starting at 19:37 UTC, over a period of about twenty minutes, four NavCam images were taken in sequence as a 2×2 raster – each image showing only part of the comet. This is the second image in the sequence, taken at 19:41 UTC from a distance of 31.0 km from the centre of the comet. The image scale is 2.6 m/pixel and the frame measures about 2.7 km across.
A montage of all four images from this sequence is available here.
Closest approach of less than 14 km from the comet's surface took place at 13:04 UTC.
The image has been cleaned to remove the more obvious bad pixels and cosmic ray artefacts, and intensities have been scaled.
More images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko can be found in the '67P - by Rosetta' collection.
